In a nutshell

I discovered marbling a few years ago, and it quickly became one of my favorite creative rituals. The slow movement of ink across water, the unpredictability of patterns, and the meditative focus it requires make it both calming and deeply expressive. It’s a way for me to disconnect, experiment freely, and reconnect with creativity outside of product constraints.

Marbling Studio is a digital interpretation of this centuries-old Japanese art form. Inspired by traditional marbling techniques, this interactive tool allows users to drop ink onto a canvas, manipulate fluid motion, and create organic shapes. The goal of the tool is to bring the experience of marbling into a digital space.

From passion to product

With Marbling Studio, I wanted to translate that personal passion into an interactive experience.

Built using Figma, Figma Make, and Claude Code, the tool explores how fluid dynamics can be recreated digitally. Users can play and experiment in an interactive canvas.

I added tools to drop ink onto the canvas, adjust color, fluidity, and size through a control panel to shape the patterns. I designed and build these controls to balance freedom and precision: allowing users to explore organic, and unpredictable movement while keeping creative control over the outcome.

Controls

Great creative tools balance control with unpredictability. I designed adjustable parameters, including color, fluidity, scale, and manipulation tools, to give users control without losing the magic of exploration.

What started as a personal creative practice became an opportunity to turn it into a digital tool that invites play through fun, fluid interactions, while also exploring AI tools like Figma Make and Claude Code in the process.
